Spejderrejser in Tunisia

Picture

Who would have thought that…? Yes who would have thought that we in the middle of the warm desert night of the Sahara should dance with a bunch of crazy camel farmers?

Since we landed her in the hot sands of Tunisia, we have experienced a whole lot of things. We have made great friends with 2 Tunisian scouts, who are also the ones showing us this beautiful country. Mohamed and Haithem is 2 young Tunisian, who works in the Danish-Tunisian Corporation. Together with our guides Sophie and Kristine, they have till now made our trip an enormous success. Both the stay in the old rooms of Luke Skywalker, and the race on ATVs in the desert.

The scouting network in Tunisia seems to be really strong and we tend to meet Tunisian Scouts in almost every town we have been to.

We have had lunch in the dining room of a Tunisian family and are very pleased to se the daily lives of Tunisians. Still clear in our memories is the trip on camels to the desert, out to a place in the middle of the Sahara, where we ate traditional Tunisian food made on a campfire. Later same night we played around the campfire; wrestling, arm wrestling and competitions of all sought and a lot of dancing to Tunisian music played on a flute and drums.

The thee in Tunisia is a delicacy and by now we have tasted both the mild and sweet tourist thee and the really strong thee that only the locals drink.

Now we are all a bit tired after having rid back from the desert to Douz and travelled to the hotel where we are now resting. Tomorrow there will be another day and our energy will be back as soon as the sun have raised.

There is still a lot to se out there!
